Data Collected and Purpose
We process information on this website for the following purposes:
- Contact form: If you use the contact form, we will collect your name, telephone number (optional), and email address. These data are used exclusively to respond to your enquiry. They will not be used for advertising purposes nor shared with third parties.
- Registration form to propose and vote on new collections: If you register, we will collect your name, surname, organisation (optional), and email address. These data are used exclusively to manage proposals and voting on new collections. They will not be used for advertising purposes nor shared with third parties.
- Browsing data (Cookies): Through Google Analytics (configured via Site Kit), we collect anonymous statistical information. The IP address is anonymised to protect your identity.
- Indexing Database (OCR): Vistik.es manages its own database hosted on secure servers containing OCR transcriptions generated using artificial intelligence from public historical documents. The sole purpose is to facilitate the discovery of information of historical, cultural, and genealogical interest.
Legal Basis for Processing
The legal basis for processing your data is the consent of the data subject. This consent is given in two ways:
- By ticking the acceptance box in the contact form.
- By accepting the cookie banner at the start of navigation.
Data Hosting
Both the website and the database containing OCR records are hosted on the servers of DreamHost LLC. This infrastructure has the necessary technical security measures to guarantee the integrity of the stored information.
Data Retention Period
- Form data: Will be retained for the strictly necessary time to resolve your enquiry.
- Analytical data: Will be retained for the period established by Google Analytics in its data retention policy.
- Historical Indexes: Data from the OCR database will be retained for historical archiving and research purposes while the project remains active, given its public interest.
Data Recipients
Your data will not be disclosed to third parties, except where legally required. We do not carry out international transfers of personal data, except those inherent to Google technical cookies, which are subject to secure privacy frameworks.
User Rights
As a user of Vistik.es, you have the right to:
- Access: Know which data we are processing.
- Rectification: Correct any inaccurate data.
- Erasure: Request the deletion of your data once it is no longer necessary for the stated purposes.
- Objection: Object to the processing of your data under certain circumstances.
To exercise these rights, you only need to complete the contact form. Likewise, if you believe that your rights have not been duly respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
Note on historical documents: Vistik.es indexes documents that are freely accessible in official archives (BOCM, PARES, etc.). If you identify personal information concerning you in our search engine and wish it to be de-indexed from our search results (without prejudice to the original document remaining in the official source), you may submit a reasoned request via our contact form.
Disclaimer Regarding Documents
Vistik.es operates as a search engine for the automatic transcription of historical documents held in public archives (PARES, BOCM, etc.). This website is not responsible for any personal data that may appear in the original official documents, the ownership and custody of which correspond to their respective issuing public authorities.
